New models - Nissan - PatrolNissan Patrol cabin gets modern makeoverThe ageing Y62 Patrol has been given a dash of key tweaks as its successor draws in15 Apr 2025 By MIKE STEVENS A FEW months beyond its 15th birthday, the Y62 Nissan Patrol is celebrating with a few months worth of Australian sales dominance over its much fresher rival, the Toyota LandCruiser 300, with an interior tech overhaul and modest price rises.
Beating Toyota may seem a minor victory, given the 300 comfortably outsold the Patrol through 2024 – but it’s clear that as the turbo V6-only next-gen Y63 Patrol gets closer, more Aussies are keen to put one of the last V8-only Y62s in their driveway.
What difference this likely final update of a big new screen and a welcome connectivity upgrade will make to that attraction, only time will tell, but the more tech-forward and connectivity-obsessed Patrol buyers are sure to welcome it.
Readers familiar with the Y62’s long life may recognise the new dash as the same view gifted to buyers in left-hand-drive markets in late 2021 – meaning the broadly industry-standard 12.3-inch display size has at last come to Australia’s Patrol.
The ‘new’ display offers wireless connectivity for Apple Carplay and Android Auto, just one year after a locally developed solution from Directed Technologies saw the popular phone-mirroring systems introduced to the Patrol, through a new 10.1-inch screen that replaced the 8.0-inch display of previous years.
A new 7.0-inch driver display joins the upgrades, featuring navigation and a new Off-Road Monitor system, along with Intelligent Around-View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.
Those features are standard for the base Ti model – in addition to plusher-looking quilted leather upholstery – while buyers of the more luxury-oriented Ti-L sees the return of the premium 13-speaker Bose stereo system after a year-long hiatus, along with a “digital high-definition” rear-view mirror display, and a cooled space in the centre console, both of which spent the previous model year as standard kit in the Ti and Warrior.
Along with the cabin upgrades, the Patrol Warrior gets a minor tweak, too, with new black side steps added as part of the MY25 offering.
The Y62 Patrol is unchanged mechanically, with power again provided by Nissan’s 298kW, 560Nm 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine, sent to both ends through a seven-speed auto.
As for pricing, last year’s update to the Patrol saw prices climb to $89,260 before on-road costs for the Ti, and this year’s buyers will be asked to bear a smaller increase, to $90,600 before on-road costs.
Last year’s Ti-L was the first regular Patrol to nudge past the ton at $101,960 – and this year it remains almost static at $102,100 + ORC.
The Premcar-fettled, off-road-oriented Patrol Warrior's latest price of $105,660 + ORC just scrapes past the previous year’s $105,520 + ORC.
