AUDI is sniffing out new and younger buyers with an A4 that boasts a big nose, a new set of clothes and better overall reflexes combined with lovelier manners. And it may just be the most rounded compact sedan and wagon on the market right now. But in the near future exciting new rivals from BMW, Lexus and Alfa Romeo will be here to shake the latest A4 up, so has Audi gone far enough with the 2005 B7-edition A4?

Family Tree: A4THE A4 sedan first arrived in Australia in August 1995 as a replacement for the successful Audi 80. Its 92kW four-cylinder engine drove the front wheels, but turbo-four, V6, quattro four-wheel drive and wagon models were soon added. The entry-level A4 sedan was renamed the 1.8 20V in October 1997 and received ellipsoid headlights in May 1999 before its eventual replacement in June 2001 by the all-new B6 version. The facelifted B7 version replaced the B6 in February 2005.
