'F60' test mules on offer

FERRARI has taken the unusual step of not just releasing photographs of a prototype of its next-generation supercar, but offering customers to buy one of the 20 or so test mules being built.

Costing a cool 1.5 million Euros (A$2.35) and based on the Enzo, the FXX (meaning ‘F??’ – or, more likely, the forthcoming F60) is powered by a 6262cc V12 delivering more than 800hp, or around 600kW.

'Client Test Drivers' are being sought from across the world, including Australia, however a special in-house committee has been set up to scrutinise applications.

Ferrari insists that clients who sign up for the project will actually be joining the F1 race team, with their suggestions going into the mix alongside those from Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Ferrari’s in-house test drivers.

The car, deliveries of which will begin later this year, has not been homologated for road use. It will be used exclusively on the track as part of the F60’s R&D program.
