Audi Q5 and SQ5 Sportback arrive

Q5 family grows with inclusion of coupe-SUV Sportback range, pricing from $84,500

2 Oct 2025

AUDI AUSTRALIA has welcomed the Q5 and SQ5 Sportback variants to its portfolio this week, the coupe-SUV body style joining the current Q5 SUV range and available from $84,500 plus on-road costs (full pricing details are tabled below).

The German importer says the Q5 Sportback range comprises five distinct variants, including the SQ5 TFSI edition one, which is available for a limited time.

The Sportback variants are said to bring an even sportier design character, advanced technology, and enhanced driving performance to the Q5 range while at the same time maintaining the practicality and premium features that buyers expect – including a generous 515 litres of cargo space with the rear seats in place.

Built upon Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, the Q5 Sportback range  is distinguished by its lower roofline, coupe-like silhouette, and taut, muscular proportions.

The streamlined body also delivers aerodynamic benefits, while new design touches such as available OLED tail-lights and a rear projection light below the spoiler are said to enhance the model’s road presence.

At the entry point to the Q5 Sportback range is the TFSI 150kW which features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid assistance. It offers 150kW of power and 340Nm of torque, driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Audi quotes a standing 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.6 seconds.

The Q5 Sportback TDI quattro 150kW meanwhile shares the equipment levels of the petrol-powered model but is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with MHEV technology. It produces 150kW of power and 400Nm of torque.

Power is delivered to all four wheels through Audi’s quattro ultra all-wheel drive system, bolstering grip and performance. The standing 0-100km/h acceleration time for the variant is listed at 7.4 seconds.

Equipment highlights for the duo include S line exterior styling, 19-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, Audi’s curved MMI panoramic instrumentation and infotainment array, leather-appointed upholstery, heated front seats, keyless entry and ignition, a gesture-controlled power tailgate, and tri-zone climate control to name but a few.

Stepping up to the mid-point of the range, the Q5 Sportback TDI quattro 150kW sport builds upon the specification of the TDI quattro with 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, sport front seats with integrated head restraints, S line interior garnishing, leather upholstery, stainless steel pedals, a three-spoke flat-bottom sport steering wheel, and a black headliner.

For a limited time, the penultimate variant in the Q5 Sportback range is the SQ5 Sportback TFSI 270kW edition one, offering the same performance, but a lower level of equipment, than the flagship SQ5 Sportback.

The edition one is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine – again with 48-volt mild hybrid assistance – offering 270kW of power and 550Nm of torque. Those figures are sufficient to accelerate the variant from standstill to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Audi offers the edition one with equipment highlights that include 20-inch Audi Sport wheels in a black metallic finish, S sport suspension, red brake callipers, rear privacy glass, and a black exterior styling package with anthracite Audi rings.

Finally, at the top of the range, is the SQ5 Sportback TFSI 270kW. This variant delivers the same level of performance as offered in the edition one, and again features a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.

Standard equipment inclusions run to 21-inch alloy Audi Sport wheels, metallic paint, aluminium-look exterior styling, acoustic glazing, premium quilted leather upholstery, front seat ventilation and massage function, head-up display, LED ambient cabin lighting, and a Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound System with 16 speakers.

All Q5 Sportback and SQ5 Sportback models feature Audi’s latest Android-based MMI system, with a curved panoramic display that integrates the 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus (instrument panel) and a 14.5-inch OLED MMI touch display.

Connected services are supported by Audi connect plus, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard as well as and inductive phone charging with built-in cooling.

Safety and assistance features are equally advanced, with all variants equipped with 360-degree cameras including kerb view, park assist plus, proactive occupant protection, Audi side assist, lane departure warning, and nine airbags, including a front centre airbag.

Adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, speed sign recognition, and rear occupant detection are also standard. The third-generation Q5 has been awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

All new Audi vehicles are backed by a five-year warranty with six years of roadside assistance. Five-year service plans are available with pricing from $3250.

“The Audi Q5 has been a cornerstone of our success in Australia, and the arrival of the Sportback body style ensures its appeal continues to grow,” said Audi Australia director Jeff Mannering.

“With its sleeker silhouette, highly efficient electrified drivetrains and advanced technology, this new body style strengthens the appeal of the Q5 family while giving Australian customers a compelling choice in the premium SUV segment.”

The all-new Audi Q5 and SQ5 Sportback are arriving at Australian showrooms soon.
