New models - Chery - Omoda 9Omoda 9 SHS priced ahead of August launchLatest Omoda-Jaecoo Super Hybrid model available next month from $61,990 + ORC21 Jul 2025 By MATT BROGAN OMODA-JAECOO has priced its Omoda 9 SHS (Super Hybrid System) large SUV ahead of its August debut.
Priced from $61,990 plus on-road costs, the plug-in hybrid offering is said to deliver up to 1100km (NEDC) of total driving range – 169km of that possible on electric power alone.
Power is derived from the combination of a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 105kW/215Nm, and three electric motors – two at the front and one at the rear.
Omoda-Jaecoo says the electric motors produce 75kW/170Nm, 90kW/220Nm and 175kW/310Nm (rear) respectively to deliver a total net output of 395kW. That figure is sufficient to accelerate the Omoda 9 SHS from standstill to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
The model achieves all-wheel drive via the combination of an electric motor driving the rear axle and the petrol and (front) twin electric motors driving the front wheels, the latter via a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
Battery capacity is listed at 34kWh and may be charged from 30-80 per cent at up to 70kW DC in approximately 25 minutes.
Stylistic highlights of the Omoda 9 include the brand’s signature diamond-shaped grille, LED daytime running lights and headlights, retractable door handles, 20-inch alloy wheels, and rear LED light bar.
Inside, the cabin features a minimalist design dominated by dual 12.3-inch instrumentation and infotainment screens, a heated two-spoke steering wheel, and leather-appointed upholstery with heating and ventilation up front, and heating for the outboard rear seats.
The flagship offering is offered in singular ‘Virtue’ trim grade boasting a long list of amenity and convenience features including an eight-way adjustable powered driver’s seat, driver head-up display, LED ambient cabin lighting, exterior puddle lighting, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, in-built fragrance system, native sat nav, 14-speaker Sony sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and 50-watt wireless device charging pad.
Paint colours include Dove Grey, Ink Black, Shadow Grey, and Silk White.
On the safety front, the Omoda 9 comes equipped as standard with features including a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, automated parking assistance, autonomous emergency braking, eight airbags, emergency lane keeping, forward collision warning, an in-build dashcam, and more.
As is the case with all Omoda-Jaecoo products, the Omoda 9 is backed by an eight-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty (which extends to the high-voltage battery), capped-price servicing, and 24/7 roadside assistance.
“The Omoda 9 is a major step for the Omoda brand”, said Omoda-Jaecoo Australia and New Zealand chief commercial officer Roy Munoz.
“Mixing the perfect blend of style, performance and sustainability, the Omoda 9 is more than just an SUV. It’s a statement of our technological advancements and manufacturing capability and represents the perfect vehicle for the premium EV curious consumer.”
The Omoda 9 will be available in dealerships from early August.
