New models - Cupra - Formentor - VZ5 ABT EditionABT Edition adds $8K to Cupra Formentor VZ5Cupra confirms Australian pricing for limited-run 287kW five-cylinder performance SUV27 Aug 2026 CUPRA has confirmed Australian pricing and specifications for its limited-edition Formentor VZ5 Custom Cupra by ABT Edition, with the German performance specialist’s styling package adding $8000 to the flagship SUV’s asking price.
Available to order now, the MY27 Formentor VZ5 Custom Cupra by ABT Edition is priced from $101,990 plus on-road costs or $109,990 driveaway nationwide, with first customer deliveries expected during the second quarter of 2027.
The special edition builds on the recently announced MY26 Formentor VZ5, retaining its turbocharged five-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive drivetrain while introducing a factory-backed collection of cosmetic and aerodynamic enhancements developed with ABT Sportsline.
Cupra says Australian allocation will be “very limited”, although it has not disclosed how many examples will be imported. Rather than extracting additional performance from the Audi-derived 2.5-litre engine, the ABT Edition concentrates entirely on appearance, leaving the mechanical package unchanged.
That means buyers still receive the 287kW turbocharged five-cylinder petrol engine producing 480Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Cupra’s all-wheel drive system featuring torque vectoring through the rear differential.
The standard VZ5’s performance hardware also carries over, including Akebono performance brakes, CUP Bucket front seats, panoramic sunroof and carbon-fibre detailing within the unique VZ5 front and rear bumpers.
Cupra claims the flagship SUV accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds.
The ABT treatment brings a more aggressive exterior through redesigned side skirts, a prominent rear spoiler and additional front and rear styling elements intended to give the Formentor a more purposeful appearance.
Exclusive gloss-black 20-inch alloy wheels are fitted along with black quad exhaust finishers, dark chrome exterior badging and discreet ABT branding. Inside, the changes are considerably more restrained, with ABT-branded floor mats the only unique interior addition.
The remainder of the cabin, including its infotainment, seating and driver-focused layout, is unchanged from the regular VZ5.
Cupra Australia Head of Product Jeff Shafer said the collaboration was intended to enhance the visual appeal of the VZ5 without altering the qualities that had already made it the brand’s halo model.
“The Formentor VZ5 already occupies a unique position within the Cupra range, combining the unmistakable character of the five-cylinder engine with the design and driving dynamics that define our brand,” he said.
“The new VZ5 Custom Cupra by ABT Edition builds on those foundations with a carefully considered package that enhances the vehicle’s visual presence while respecting everything enthusiasts already love about the VZ5.”
Only five exterior colours will be offered, with premium paint and matte paint the sole optional extras available to buyers.
The arrival of the ABT Edition creates a two-model VZ5 range in Australia, with the standard MY26 version priced from $94,990 + ORC and $101,990 d/a, while the ABT Edition commands $101,990 + ORC and $109,990 d/a.
Cupra has not indicated whether the ABT collaboration will eventually extend to other Australian models, despite the broader Custom Cupra by ABT program also covering Formentor and Leon variants overseas.
