Ford prices BF Falcon, SY Territory

FORD Australia has released pricing details of its forthcoming BF Falcon and SY Territory, which according to the company represents, on average, a one per cent increase.

That’s not bad considering the improvements made to the vehicles. All prices are for automatic variants, unless indicated.

Ford claims the updated BF will be the first locally manufactured vehicle with a six-speed automatic transmission and the first locally manufactured vehicle with Dynamic Stability Control on a V8, while the revised Territory will be the first locally manufactured vehicle with a reverse camera.

"Every model benefits from the significant number of upgrades, delivering a better car to our customers," said Ford marketing boss Bruce McDonald.

"Commercial customers will appreciate increased performance from the Barra 190 engine, which is now standard in XL, XLS and RTV utes, complemented by a smoother shifting four-speed automatic transmission," McDonald said.

As previously reported, the entry-level Falcon XT comes with an upgraded Barra 190 six-cylinder engine boasting Dual Independent Variable Camshaft Timing and the option of an improved four-speed automatic transmission - a combination that's claimed to deliver class-leading power levels and fuel efficiency improvements of more than five per cent.

Ford's optional 5.4-litre V8 comes standard with a new ZF six-speed automatic transmission.

Along with the Barra 190, Futura offers with new 16-inch alloy wheels and Reverse Sensing System, while Fairmont offers new alloys and two new paint colours – Wired (pictured below) and Deja Vu - and Fairmont Ghia will come standard with Dynamic Stability Control, new alloys, a six-speed auto for the optional V8 and an eight-way power adjustable driver's seat.

Falcon XR6 will be available with a new six-speed manual transmission from January, the no cost option of the improved four-speed automatic transmission or the optional six-speed automatic transmission, which is claimed to offer fuel savings of more than 11 per cent. On top, XR6 Turbo gains more power and torque, new 17-inch alloys and DSC.

BF XR8 receives the most cosmetic changes, including new 18-inch wheels, a new front bumper and new tail-lights.

All BF Falcon variants will come with new seat trim fabrics and new interior inserts and finishes.

Falcon XR ute gains traction control, while XR6 Turbo and XR8 ute models offer the optional six-speed auto.

The BF Fairlane range (comprising Ghia, G8 and LTD variants) offer the new Barra 190 I6 or Barra 230 V8, teamed with the six-speed auto, DSC and new 17-inch alloys.

SY Territory will come with the new Barra 190 six and, on Ghia versions, a new reverse camera. Territory AWD models will gain the six-speed auto, while DSC will be standard on Territory Ghia RWD and optional on the TS and TX RWD versions.

"The average price increase for the Falcon range is one per cent, which represents fantastic value for money when you consider the new levels of technology, safety and refinement built into the car," said Mr McDonald.

"We're confident the combination of exciting locally designed and engineered product and a sharp pricing strategy will further consolidate the success of the outstanding Falcon and Territory range," he said.
