New models - Ford - Ranger - Wildtrak XFord returns Ranger Wildtrak XLimited numbers of well-kitted Ford Ranger Wildtrak X available from $77,640 +ORC23 Jan 2025 By MATT BROGAN FOLLOWING its sell-out success in 2023, the special edition Ford Ranger Wildtrak X will make its return to Australian showrooms from this month priced from $77,640 plus on-road costs.
Sporting unique styling accents, Ford’s Flexible Rack System, improved off-road capability, Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers with remote nitrogen-filled reservoirs, and increased track width and ground clearance, just 750 examples of the Ford Ranger Wildtrak X are now available.
Additionally, the variant features a 400W power inverter in the rear console and tray, along with Pro Trailer Backup Assist Ford says, “reduces stress and makes reversing simple”.
Fully loaded, the only option offered on the Ford Ranger Wildtrak X is prestige paint, a $700 option. Carryover paint hues include Arctic White (NCO), Aluminium, Meteor Grey, and Shadow Black, while new shades including Blue Lightning and Luxe Yellow (replacing Cyber Orange).
The Ranger Wildtrak X is powered exclusively by Ford’s 2.0-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine paired as standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. Outputs are rated at 150kW at 3750rpm and 500Nm between 1750-2000rpm.
Braked towing capacity for the limited-edition variant remains unchanged from its derivative at 3500kg.
As found elsewhere in the Ranger line-up, the Wildtrak X further includes Trail Turn Assist, Trail Control, and Rock Crawl drive assistants.
Joining the aforementioned Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers with external reservoirs are chassis upgrades including heavy-duty Electronically Power Assisted Steering gear with shielding, a 30mm increase in wheel track and 26mm increase in ground clearance.
The Ranger Wildtrak X rides on unique Asphalt Black machine-faced 17-inch alloy wheels with 265/70 profile General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres. The wheels are complemented by an Asphalt Black front bumper with Cyber Orange accent strip and Asphalt Black wheel arch mouldings.
Exterior enhancements include an off-road-style grille with auxiliary high beam LEDs joining standard Matrix LED headlights. Ford’s Flexible Rack System is joined by heavy-duty side steps, a front steel bash plate, and 3D exterior badging on the front doors and tailgate.
Moving inside we find an overhead auxiliary switch bank, 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, premium B&O audio system, Wildtrak X branded all-weather floor mats, Wildtrak X embroidered logos on Miko suede and leather accented seats and upper glovebox, Wildtrak X front door scuff plates.
Further highlights include Terra suede wrapped glove box, cluster hood, door trim and console rails, Cyber Orange contrast stitching on seats, upper glove box, doors, steering wheel and shifter, and Precision Grey accents on upper glove box décor spears, steering wheel spoke shell, air register rings, front door applique, applique trim and pull cup bezels.
“The Ranger Wildtrak X brings together a number of elements that have made the Ranger family Australia’s number one choice of new vehicle two years’ in a row,” said Ford Australia Ranger product and retail marketing manager Mathew Slade.
“It builds on the legendary Wildtrak nameplate, adds serious off-road chops thanks to the trick Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers, and clever everyday useability with the Flexible Rack System – a classic example of Aussie ingenuity.”
Production of the MY25.25 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X has now commenced, with first deliveries expected in Q1, 2025.
