However, prices have risen across both variants.
Each model now wears a price tag $1000 dearer, with the entry-level Complete variant priced at $41,990 before on-road costs while the range-topping Inspire has a $45,990 + ORCs asking price.
Now equipped with a new 68.39kWh lithium iron phosphate battery – replacing the previously-offered 60.22kWh unit – the WLTP driving ranges of both EX5 variants have increased.
The Complete variant now has a 475km driving range (up 45km), while the Inspire model can now travel 450km (an increase of 40km post-update).
WLTP energy consumption figures have increased slightly in both variants, now at 16kWh per 100km in the Complete model (compared to 15.8kWh previously) and 16.9kWh/100km in the Inspire model (up from 16.6kWh/100km).
AC and DC charging capacity remains unchanged at 11kW and 100kW respectively as has vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality rated at 3.3kW. Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capacity has increased from 6.0kW to 6.6kW.
Power and torque output specifications from the front-mounted electric motor remain unchanged at 160kW and 320Nm.
However, 0-100km/h times for both variants have increased, with the Complete variant making the dash in 7.4 seconds (up from 6.9 seconds) while the Complete model posts a 7.6-second time (up from 7.1 seconds).
Other additions for 2026 include a cargo blind and a Mode 2 charging cable included as standard features.
A new Jungle Green colour option – carried over from the EX5’s plug-in hybrid stablemate, the Starray EM-i – is also available for the new model year.
“I’m thrilled to announce the battery upgrade to the Geely EX5,” said Geely Auto Australia chief executive officer Alex Gu.
“This model has continued to evolve to meet customer needs through software refinements, and is now further value enhanced with extended range and new standard inclusions.
“Being our debut local model, the Geely EX5 is future-forward, accessible, and a true representation of Geely’s overall mission – constantly innovating for the better, with our customers top of mind.”
As standard, the EX5 Complete variant comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the latter added via an over-the-air update in February), a six-speaker sound system, heated front seats, three driving modes (Eco, Comfort and Sport), and LED external lighting.
Seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, front and rear cross-traffic alert (with braking for the latter), lane keep assist and emergency lane keep assist, lane change assist, driver fatigue alert, and rear parking sensors are included among the EX5’s standard safety features.
The Inspire model grade gains larger 19-inch alloy wheels, a 13.4-inch heads-up display, a 16-speaker sound system, a power tailgate, illuminated sun visors, 256-colour LED interior ambient lighting, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats with memory in the front row, and a powered leg rest for the front passenger.
Front parking sensors and a manual tailgate override are added to the safety suite of the Inspire variant.
As of January 2026, between Geely’s two models currently on sale in Australia the EX5 is the brand’s best-seller, with 415 examples sold so far this year, accounting for 57.6 per cent of the marque’s year-to-date sales volume.
