New models - Hyundai - PalisadeNew Hyundai Palisade gets expensiveHyundai Palisade arrives with punchy hybrid and purely palatial $90K Calligraphy trim30 Sep 2025 By MATT BROGAN HYUNDAI’S new-generation Palisade large SUV has arrived in Australian dealerships with one highly specified Calligraphy trim level featuring a punchy new hybrid drivetrain and a choice of seven- or eight-seat interior layouts priced from $89,900 plus on-road costs.
The move to a single full-fruit variant prices the MY26 Palisade $23K higher than the entry point to the outgoing range – and more than $8K higher than the range-topping Calligraphy Black Ink all-wheel drive diesel it most directly succeeds.
Featuring a localised suspension tune, petrol-electric hybrid power, and a raft of new technology inclusions, the 2026 Hyundai Palisade is characterised by clean surface treatments and bolder proportions said to enable greater levels of interior space and a more commanding view of the road.
Inside, physical buttons and touch controls provide a “more intuitive user experience”, the dashboard dominated by a pair of 12.3-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment. Further, a 12.0-inch head-up display projects key driving, navigation and safety information onto the windscreen in the driver’s field of view.
Like many recent Hyundai models, the Palisade features a column-type gear selector and ignition button, freeing up space on the centre console where there is now “an abundance of storage and convenience features” including cup holders, a wireless charging pad, and USB outlets.
Front row occupants are now treated to Hyundai’s ‘Relaxation Comfort Seats’ like those of the Ioniq 9 electric SUV with adjustable air pockets claimed to offer a zero-gravity-like experience and the ability to dynamically adjust lateral support based on driving conditions.
The second row of seats may be slid or tilted to access the third row and offer split-fold functionality to bring versatility to the cargo area. The third row of seats is heated and powered with 70mm of fore and 40mm of aft adjustment.
Being configurable across the second and third row of seats allows the cargo area of the Palisade to offer between 311 and 348 litres of boot space in seven-seat format, and between 704 and 729 litres in five-seat format.
Headroom is also increased across all three rows.
Standard equipment grows considerably over the outgoing range, including 18-way powered driver’s seat adjustment, 12-way powered passenger seat adjustment, an in-cabin camera, winged outboard rear head restraints, seat heating for all three rows, six USB-C ports, digital key and fingerprint recognition, auto-folding rear seats, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, a dual-pane tilt and slide sunroof, rear camera cleaning system, and 14-speaker Bose premium sound.
Alongside eight airbags – including a driver’s knee airbag and front-centre airbag – the Palisade packs the latest ‘Hyundai Smart Sense’ suite of safety and advanced driver assistance technologies and updated semi-autonomous highway driving tech.
The colour palette of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade now extends to eight metallic and pearlescent hues that include Abyss Black Peal, Cast Iron Brown Pearl, Classy Blue Pearl, Creamy White Pearl, Ecotronic Grey Pearl, Galaxy Maroon Pearl, Robust Emerald Pearl, and Shimmering Silver Metallic. Premium paints attract a $750 surcharge.
Interior materials and finishes are said to evoke a welcoming family-friendly environment, with four upholstery combinations that include Brown Pure, Dark Navy over Light Grey, Dark Charcoal with Brown Stitch, and Black Pure.
Two-tone upholsteries attract a $295 surcharge while the seven-seat option is an additional $1000 over the standard eight-seat configuration.
Under the bonnet, the Palisade farewells the 3.8-litre V6 petrol and turbocharged 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel duo in favour of a more efficient hybrid system comprising a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol and dual electric motors.
The combination develops 245kW (up 28kW on the petrol and 98kW on the diesel) and 460Nm (up 105Nm and 20Nm respectively) while returning a combined cycle fuel use figure of 6.8 litres per 100km, making the new Palisade 3.9L/100km more efficient than the V6 and 0.5L/100km more efficient than the diesel.
A braked towing capacity of 2000kg is listed.
Hyundai Australia has worked with the global tuning team to create what it says is a refined suspension system designed to deliver an optimal blend of comfort, stability, refinement and handling.
The arrangement is said to offer an ideal ride, handling, and steering setup well suited to Australis’s “broad spectrum of uniquely challenging road conditions”.
Externally, the front mask features silver-coated hidden headlights featuring a grille-style graphic Hyundai says seamlessly ties into the body’s silver mouldings, taillights, and roof rails for a unified look.
A raised, straight beltline and a lower garnish create a “majestic” side profile punctuated with sharper wheel arches, a “seamless” daylight opening, and machine-finished 21-inch alloy wheels.
Further back, the taillights echo the headlight treatment, while a clean, wide bumper and skid plate “emphasise the image of a family SUV”.
The Hyundai Palisade rides on a strut front and multi-link rear suspension arrangement with passive self-levelling dampers. Steering is courtesy of a belt-type rack-mounted motor with revised gearing, while braking is by discs front and rear.
Hyundai says it has paid particular attention to minimising noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels in the new Palisade, adding additional insulation around the rear seats, acoustic form inside the tyres, increase sound deadening materials in the floor, and a new rear quarter panel acoustic pad.
Thicker door glass aids in reducing wind noise, as does enhanced sealing of the wing mirror bases.
A higher percentage of hot-stamped components and advanced materials and structural design refinements have been used to increase the strength of the Body in White.
As elsewhere in the Hyundai line-up, the Palisade is backed by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and eight-year/160,000km high-voltage battery warranty. Service intervals and pricing will be detailed soon.
“The all-new Palisade is a thoroughly evolved successor to an SUV that has proven a hit with families over its first five years in Australia,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia chief executive officer Don Romano.
“The Palisade launches in the overwhelmingly popular Calligraphy grade as our premium family SUV flagship, bringing an electric vehicle-like feel courtesy of a next-generation dual-motor hybrid powertrain.”
