New models - MG - ZSMG prices new ZS petrol range for OzPetrol-powered MG ZS joins hybrid line-up, priced from $26,990 drive-away24 Jan 2025 By MATT BROGAN MG MOTOR Australia has announced pricing for its petrol-powered ZS range, the Small segment SUV joining its hybridised counterparts in local showrooms from $26,990 drive-away – or $7000 cheaper than the starting point of the hybrid range.
Price rises range from $500 to $2000 depending on variant (see full pricing table below).
Offered in three trim grades – Excite, Essence, and Essence Turbo – the MG ZS features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine across the range, the turbocharged unit of the flagship model tuned to deliver 125kW/275Nm (up10kW/45Nm).
Other ZS grades output 81kW/140Nm (down 3kW/10Nm).
Drive is to the front wheels with gearing handled by a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
MG Motor lists a Combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 6.7 litres per 100km for the naturally aspirated engine and 6.9L/100km for the turbocharged mill.
By way of contrast, the ZS Hybrid+ range features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine / electric motor combination again driving the front wheels. Gearing is via a three-speed planetary gearbox.
MG Motor lists a total system out figure of 158kW/465Nm for the Hybrid+ range, with Combined cycle fuel use from 4.7 litres per 100km (on 95RON or higher premium unleaded).
Meanwhile, we find wheel choices across the petrol-powered range as follows: The entry grade MG ZS Excite petrol rides on 16-inch alloy wheels, the mid-grade Essence on 17s, and the flagship Essence Turbo on 18s.
In terms of dimensions, the petrol-powered 2025 MG ZS measures 4430mm in length, 1818mm in width, and 1635mm in height, making it 107mm longer, 9mm wider, and 14mm shorter than the preceding model.
Cargo space is listed at 443 litres (+84 litres) in five-seat mode expanding to 1457 litres (+291 litres) with the seats folded.
MG Motor says full ZS specifications will be announced next month (February), but in the meantime has highlighted several features for the range.
On Excite grades, these include a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with standard reversing camera, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloth upholstery, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, and push-button ignition.
Essence grades sport a larger 12.3-inch infotainment array, 360-degree camera system, PVC upholstery, heated front seats, and six-way powered driver seat adjustment.
“The ZS is a segment leader and the all-new ZS will see a new generation of motorists embrace this family friendly SUV,” said MG Motor Australia chief commercial officer Giles Belcher.
“We’ve seen a fantastic response to the ZS Hybrid+ and the expanded range will continue to provide exceptional value for Aussie motorists.
“We look forward to seeing the new models roll into Australian dealerships in mid-February.”
As before, the MG ZS remains backed by a 10-year/250,000km warranty.
