Mitsubishi introduces Triton GSR Special Edition

Flagship dual-cab ute arrives in Mitsubishi range, Triton GSR Special Edition from $63,140

4 Feb 2025

MITSUBISHI Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has announced the introduction of the Triton GSR Special Edition this week, the flagship joining the regular GSR variant within the brand’s dual-cab utility range from $63,140 plus on-road costs – or $700 less than the derivative variant.

Featuring a range of exterior updates, the Mitsubishi Triton GSR Special Edition is said to offer a distinctive look while also benefitting from range-wide technology additions, including enhanced adaptive cruise control (now with Stop & Go functionality), Graphite Grey grille with embossed M-I-T-S-U-B-I-S-H-I lettering, a black sports bar (in lieu of sail plane), and fender flare delete.

Taking the fight to the likes of the Ford Ranger Wildtrak, Isuzu D-Max X, and Toyota HiLux Rogue, the Triton GSR Special Edition otherwise retains the comprehensive standard equipment of the ongoing model.

Likewise, the paint palette of the Triton GSR remains, with the choice of Black Mica or Graphite Grey at no cost; Yamabuki Orange or White Diamond are available for an additional $200.

The new addition remains otherwise identically specified to its derivative, featuring equipment highlights such as 18-inch alloy wheels, black leather upholstery with contrasting orange stitching, powered driver’s seat adjustment, LED headlights, a 9.0-inch infotainment array with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 360-degree camera system, 7.0-inch digital instrument panel, keyless entry and ignition, and dual-zone climate control.

Motivation continues to arrive courtesy of Mitsubishi’s twin-turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder diesel engine delivering 150kW of power and 470Nm of torque. It is paired exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission and offers a class competitive braked towing limit of 3500kg.

Like all Mitsubishi products, the Triton range is backed by a 10-year / 200,000km warranty including capped-price servicing and roadside assistance.

The Mitsubishi Triton remains one of Australia’s most popular light commercial utilities, with 2024 calendar year sales of 3340 two-wheel drive and 14,737 four-wheel drive variants.

By way of comparison, Ford sold 4663 two-wheel drive and 57,960 four-wheel drive Ranger variants, Toyota 7660 / 45,839 HiLux variants, and Isuzu 6163 and 24,031 D-Max variants.

“As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we constantly take feedback from our dealer partners and customers,” said MMAL general manager of product strategy Bruce Hampel.

“Through this, we saw an opportunity to enhance customer choice for the Triton GSR, with a more rugged appearance.

“The GSR Special Edition combines the GSR’s impressive specification with a distinctively themed exterior package that further broadens its appeal.”
