New models - Ram - 1500 - Express Black Edition

Express cuts Ram 1500 entry price by $30K

Ram launches 1500 Express Black Edition, undercutting Ford and Chevrolet competition

15 May 2026

RAM Trucks Australia has introduced a new entry-level Express Black Edition to its 1500 line-up, dropping the price of admission to its full-size US pickup by more than $30,000 to undercut rivals from Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota.

Priced from $109,950 plus on-road costs, the Express Black Edition slots in below the Rebel ($141,950 + ORC), Laramie Sport ($141,950 + ORC) and flagship Limited ($159,950 + ORC) variants, due in Australian showrooms from June 2026.

The Ram 1500 has been Australia's top-selling 1500-class pickup for the past eight years running, based on VFACTS data, and the cut-price Express Black Edition is positioned to keep that momentum going as it out-prices competitors like the Ford F-150 (from $114,950 + ORC), Chevrolet Silverado (from $134,500 + ORC) and Toyota Tundra (from $155,900 + ORC).

Powering the Express Black Edition is Ram’s ‘Hurricane’ 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder producing 313kW/635Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and part-time 4x4 system.

The Express Black offers the same 4500kg towing capacity as upstream models, while also offering the best payload in the range at 1014kg – presumably due to a lower tare weight.

Ram’s upstream 1500 Rebel, for context, offers a payload of 893kg, making the Express Black the most capable model for tradespeople or contractors likely to fit a canopy.

As the name suggests, the Express Black Edition gets a heavy dose of blacked-out styling, with black mirror caps, door handles, badging, grille, side steps, exhaust tips and 20-inch alloy wheels.

It also scores a beefy 'power bulge' sports bonnet, body-coloured bumpers, tinted rear windows and LED headlights.

Inside, the infotainment setup includes an 8.4-inch central touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring, paired with a 7.0-inch digital instrument display and six-speaker stereo system.

The cabin is trimmed in cloth with black highlights, compared with leather trim used in higher grade models.

A solid suite of safety technology is included on the model, with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert and forward collision warning with AEB.

Outside, a spray-in tub liner, damped tailgate, two rear underfloor storage pockets, 'kick down' bed step, power-operated sliding rear window and trailer brake controller round out the package, ticking off most of what tradies and tourers need from the factory.

"The Ram 1500 Express Black Edition brings a new entry price to the updated MY26 Ram 1500 Series," said Ram Trucks Australia general manager Jeff Barber.

"With the Ram 1500 Express Black Edition we have reduced the price gap between mid-size utes and our full-size Ram 1500 range.

"Our customers have been asking for a package like this and we're pleased to be able to deliver it."
