The extra kit has pushed the price of the Atara S up by $700, while the base level Altise will offer the sat-nav system as an option for the same price increase. This means that sat-nav is now available on all Camry models. The Camry range received an update in May this year, which ushered in features such as the same 7.0-inch touchscreen, bodykit enhancements for the Atara SX, a wireless mobile phone charger for the top-spec Atara SL and reversing camera with guidelines and Euro 5 certified engines across the range. The final Australian-built Camry launched mid-last year and the last examples will roll off the Altona production line later in 2017, before being replaced by a foreign-sourced new-generation model. Toyota Australia executive director of sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the new additions would further the appeal of the Camry. “Camry has been Australia’s preferred mid-size vehicle for more than two decades. It’s a family favourite that also offers clear bottom-line benefits for business owners,” he said. “This upgrade reflects Toyota’s commitment to continuous and ongoing improvement of Camry’s design, quality and specification.” Toyota has registered 16,543 Camrys to the end of September this year, a 3.6 per cent drop over the 17,167 recorded at the same time last year. However it still continues to dominate sales in its segment, besting such rivals as the Mazda6 (3392 sales), Ford Mondeo (2232), Kia Optima (1094) and Honda Accord (616).
