News - HinoHino rolls out heavy-hitter 700 Series modelsHino launches new heavy-hitting 700 Series models, opening up new markets23 Jul 2025 HINO Australia has expanded its 700 Series line-up, adding a spate of new variants with a Gross Combination Mass (GCM) that allows it to access customers it previously had to turn away, and the models feature a new in-house developed automated manual transmission (AMT).
The truck maker has placed significant focus on the 700 Series, which is already Euro 6 compliant, likely due to the production gap it is experiencing as it transitions the medium-duty 500 Series to Euro 6.
From October the 700 Series range will expand from 19 models to 31, appealing to a broader range of customers and applications than ever before.
The expanded range includes FH1836 4x2, FS2636 6x4 and FY3036 8x4 models, which will feature Hino’s nine-litre diesel engine producing 265kW/1569Nm, and two FS2845 models that use the brand’s 13-litre engine producing 331kW/2157Nm.
Customers will also have the choice of either leaf spring or airbag drive axle suspension options, as well as multiple wheelbases to suit a variety of bodies and applications.
The new 12-speed AMT is based on the company’s proven 12-speed manual ‘box, making Hino the only Japanese manufacturer to offer a fully integrated driveline Down Under.
“With its wide gear ratio and selection spread, the two-pedal 12-speed AMT will be an excellent choice for heavy rigid operations in extra urban and regional applications,” said Hino Australia product strategy manager, Daniel Petrovski.
“It will also appeal to rigid truck operators who need to tow a trailer and to customers seeking a fuel-efficient high performance rigid truck solution for highway and hilly operations.
The company confirmed that the new models will still be available with Allison automatic transmissions, and the ZF Traxon AMT will also be available alongside the new Hino-branded AMT.
“With the addition of the new AMT models, Hino will now offer multiple two-pedal options for our 300 horsepower-plus heavy-duty customers with Allison 4440 and Allison 3200 true automatic transmissions, plus the Hino M112 and ZF Traxon automated manual transmission variations.”
The implications for Hino go beyond offering an integrated driveline, allowing the company to target the tipper and tanker markets with an increased GCM of 45 tonnes (up from 36 tonnes) for the first time.
“The 700 Series range now offers a solution for almost any heavy-duty application with eleven additional models on sale from October,” said Mr Petrovski.
“We’ll be able to get into more of these applications, and council tippers we see as a big one, because the 12-speed gives us more GCM.
“Taking the GCM from 36 to 45 tonnes might not seem like a lot, but a lot of Council tenders must have a 45-tonne GCM.”
