New models - BMW - iXBMW confirms iX local price and specUpdated all-electric BMW iX slated for Aussie arrival by mid-2025, now priced from $142,90020 Feb 2025 By MATT BROGAN AS DETAILED by GoAuto last month, the facelifted BMW iX is headed to Australia is due in Australian dealerships from the middle of this year (2025), now priced from $142,900 plus on-road costs or $6000 more than the model it replaces.
The update brings a change in grade to the range, the iX xDrive45 M Sport to replace the iX xDrive40 Sport in BMW’s Australian portfolio as the only grade available.
BMW Australia has not listed the iX xDrive40, iX xDrive50 Sport, or iX M60 as being renewed.
Changes to the new iX xDrive45 M Sport’s include revised styling, updated silicone-carbide semiconductor components, new high voltage batteries, and several revised mechanical components – including wheel bearings and tyres.
Importantly, the energy content of the new iX xDrive45 M Sport’s high voltage battery increases 30 per cent to 98.4kWh, extending driving range to 602km (WLTP), while the available DC charging rate increases, up 25kW to 175kW.
AC recharging is unchanged at up to 22kW.
Power and torque outputs now stretch to 300kW and 700Nm respectively, up 60kW and 70Nm over the outgoing the iX xDrive40 Sport. That increase sees the 0-100km/h acceleration time for the iX fall one second to just 5.1 (seconds).
For the statisticians out there, the changes amount to a power increase of 25 per cent, an energy content increase of 30 per cent, a driving range increase of 38 per cent, and a charging time improvement of 17 per cent.
BMW says the changes in battery technology have not only bolstered range and performance, but also vehicle dynamics and handling. The lighter batteries improve weight transfer, aided further by a hydraulic rear axle support bearing that ensures “an optimised balance between sporty dynamics and ride comfort”.
In addition, weight- and friction-optimised wheel bearings and tyres offer reduced rolling resistance, complemented by new aerodynamically optimised alloy wheel designs ranging from 21- to 23-inches in diameter.
Additionally, BMW will offer the 2025 iX xDrive45 M Sport with standard M Sport package, the model also debuting the brand’s Kidney Iconic Glow illuminated grille on top of “extensive” aesthetic changes.
The vehicle’s “expressive presence and monolithic appearance” is characterised by a striking new frontal treatment, including a redesigned grille, new adaptive LED headlights and DRLs, and bolder air intakes.
Vertical reflectors now dominate the rear-end.
No-cost-option metallic finishes include Arctic Race Blue (new), Aventurine Red, Black Sapphire, Dune Grey (new), M Carbon Black, Mineral White, and Tanzanite Blue metallic (from April 2025 production).
BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey metallic attracts a $5500 surcharge while BMW Individual Storm Bay metallic is available from $2400.
Additional hues including BMW Individual Frozen Pure Grey metallic and Space Silver metallic will be available from Q4 this year.
Optional alloy wheels include 22-inch M aerodynamic bi-colour (+$2500) and 23-inch Individual aerodynamic bi-colour (+$5000).
Upholstery choices – over M Multifunctional seats upholstered in tanned Natural Leather – include Amido and Castanea, both no-cost options.
BMW will further offer the iX xDrive45 M Sport with its Executive package (+$6500), Integral Active Steering (+$3000), adaptive air suspension with automatic self-levelling (+$4000), and Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound audio system (+$9500) as optional extras.
