New models - Genesis - G80Genesis Electrified G80 gets limo treatmentGenesis updates luxury G80 EV model with more range, added tech and longer wheelbase19 Jun 2025 GENESIS is on the model update offensive, as it rolls out a spate of new ‘Electrified’ (EV) models aimed at the premium end of town, undercutting the Germans on price while going big on luxury.
The latest model update from Hyundai’s premium sub-brand is the Electrified G80, now available in single Signature AWD flagship trim, which grows in length, luxury and price for 2025.
Genesis has pumped up the dimensions of the incoming G80, for a limo-like experience inside the cabin, starting with a 130mm wheelbase extension and 5mm height increase.
According to Genesis, the G80’s increased size equates to an extra 83mm of legroom and 20mm more headroom in the second row, while the front-row dimensions remain unchanged.
Luxury inside the cabin also gets a bump, with a massive 27.0-inch screen that handles multimedia and instrumentation, a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, plus little luxury extras like heated front console armrest, UV-C sanitiser, 16-way adjustable rear seats, self-closing rear doors, and sunshades for the rear.
Other major improvements include a larger 94.5kWh battery (up 7.3kWh), which allows for an increased driving range of 570km (up 50km), and it can be charged from 10-80 per cent in 25 minutes.
Maximum outputs for the new model, powered by the same dual-motor setup as the current runner, come in at an unchanged 272kW/700Nm, allowing for a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.1 seconds.
On the ride and handling front, the new model gains active rear-wheel steering which is said to enhance low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability, while active noise control keeps the cabin quiet.
There is also an upgraded suite of advanced safety features, which includes the brand’s latest Highway Driving Assist 2, updated forward collision avoidance assist and parking collision avoidance assist.
While priced from a fairly steep $155,000 (plus on-roads), which is a hike of $9442 over the outgoing model, the Electrified G80 remains ever-so-slightly cheaper than key German rivals like the BMW i5 ($155,900) and Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 ($153,600).
“We’re thrilled to introduce the 2025 Electrified G80, which applies an all-encompassing suite of enhancements to our enduringly electric flagship sedan,” said Genesis Motors Australia head Justin Douglass.
“With comprehensive upgrades to driving range, ride and refinement, and an array of additional safety, comfort and convenience technologies, 2025 Electrified G80 delivers an experience of unprecedented luxury.”
The 2025 Electrified G80 is available now from Genesis dealers and is covered by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, eight-year/160,000km battery warranty and complimentary scheduled servicing for five years/75,000km.
