Hyundai darkens Palisade with Black Ink edition

HYUNDAI Motor Company Australia (HMCA) has expanded its next-generation Palisade line-up with the introduction of the Calligraphy Black Ink, a new flagship variant that adds an exclusive blacked-out styling package to the brand’s large segment hybrid SUV.

Priced from $92,400 plus on-road costs, the Palisade Calligraphy Black Ink commands a $2572 premium over the existing Calligraphy grade and is available to order now ahead of showroom arrivals this month.

Based on the range-topping Calligraphy, the Black Ink variant receives an extensive dark styling treatment that sees the grille, exterior trim, badging, wheels, and roof rails finished in black, while the cabin gains exclusive black metallic trim in place of the standard bright alloy-look finishes.

Customers can choose between Abyss Black or Creamy White exterior paintwork, creating, HMCA says, either a monochromatic appearance or a contrasting black-and-white finish.

“We’re excited to introduce Palisade Calligraphy Black Ink, which brings a more distinctive and contemporary dark edge to our large family SUV,” said HMCA chief operating officer Gavin Donaldson.

“With its black-finished wheels and trim, and premium pure tone Nappa leather cabin, Black Ink gives Palisade customers a bold new expression of style while delivering the comfort, technology and practicality that defines the Hyundai SUV line-up.”

The Black Ink package further includes black Hyundai emblems and badging, a hot-stamped black grille with matching active air flap, satin black grille surround, gloss black window surrounds, satin black lower bumper treatment, satin black beltline trim, black roof rails, and gloss black 21-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the model retains the Calligraphy's pure-tone black Nappa leather upholstery but replaces the standard metallic interior highlights with exclusive black metallic trim.

Mechanically, the Black Ink is unchanged from the Calligraphy on which it is based, powered by Hyundai’s turbocharged 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Like the broader Palisade range, the newcomer is available in either eight-seat configuration or with an optional seven-seat layout featuring second-row premium relaxation seats. The seven-seat arrangement attracts a $1000 premium.

The Palisade range now comprises three variants, beginning with the Elite priced from $76,500 + ORC, followed by the Calligraphy from $89,828 + ORC, and the new Black Ink flagship from $92,400 + ORC.

Standard equipment carried over from the Calligraphy includes a dual sunroof, head-up display, Remote Smart Parking Assist, premium Nappa leather upholstery, 21-inch alloy wheels, a Bose 14-speaker audio system, twin 12.3-inch digital displays, Hyundai’s Bluelink connected services, and an extensive suite of Hyundai SmartSense active safety technologies.

Like all other Hyundai passenger vehicles, the Palisade Black Ink is covered by Hyundai’s myHyundaiCare ownership program, incorporating capped-price servicing, lifetime roadside assistance, and satellite navigation updates when serviced through the dealer network, alongside the South Korean importer’s seven-year/unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and an eight-year/160,000km high-voltage battery warranty.
