Lexus RX 450h Luxury added to line-up

Plug-in hybrid Lexus SUV range joined by RX 450h Luxury variant, priced from $105,350

5 Jan 2026

LEXUS has expanded its RX plug-in hybrid SUV range by one this month with the addition of the RX 450h Luxury variant.

Priced from $105,350 plus on-road costs, the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class rival takes to four the number of PHEV variants across the Lexus family SUV range.

According to Lexus Australia chief executive John Pappas, electrified models (including hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants) now account for 85 per cent of the total number of NX and RX SUVs sold, a trend he expects to continue into 2026.

“Lexus offers customers the luxury of choice, and more are choosing to transition to hybrid, and similarly more from hybrid to plug-in hybrid as the benefits of battery-electric assisted performance are embraced,” he outlined.

“We have always said that our customers will inform us when they are ready to make the next move on their electrification journey, and that we would response accordingly – and we are.

The RX 450h+ Luxury is powered by the same 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and dual electric motors as offered elsewhere in the NX and RX lines.

Coupled with all-wheel drive, the combination delivers 227kW of combined power, drawing electrical charge from an 18.1kWh lithium-ion battery which may be charged in as little as 2.5 hours when connected to a 32-amp appliance.

Lexus says the variant is capable of travelling up to 85km solely on electric power, making it a “compelling proposition for customers wanting the flexibility of a PHEV along with trademark Lexus luxury and comfort”.

As with other RX Luxury grades, the RX 450h+ Luxury offers standard equipment including eight-way power adjustable front seats with driver’s side memory, heated and ventilated front seats, reclining rear seats with power folding, tri-zone climate control, a sliding panoramic roof, head-up display, and keyless entry and ignition.

Multimedia highlights include a 14.0-inch central touchscreen infotainment array, wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, five USB-C charging outlets, and Lexus Connected Services as standard.
