New models - Nissan - ZNissan to offer heritage colour option on ZIconic R34 GT-R Bayside Blue to be offered as one of three new Z paint options10 Jul 2025 By MATT BROGAN NISSAN will shortly offer its iconic Bayside Blue paint finish as one of three new colours available on its Z sports coupe.
Harking back to the legendary R34-series GT-R, the Bayside Blue hue is itself an evolution of the Champion Blue finish worn by the 1995 R33 GT-R LM – a road-going homage to Nissan’s Le Mans-winning race cars.
Such was its popularity, Nissan Advance Design Department colour design manager Kei Yoshitomi knew “an evolved, vivid blue was demanded”, and so Bayside Blue debuted with the launch of the R34 GT-R.
Named for Tokyo’s Bayshore Highway – a road of deep significance in the city’s underground car culture – Bayside Blue was an instant hit, and is arguably the colour most associated with the R34 GT-R.
Unofficially retired, Bayside Blue was reintroduced in 2019 for the GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition.
Bayside Blue is one of three new colour choices available on the 2025 Nissan Z range, joining Ivory Pearl with Super Black Roof, and Plasma Red with Super Black Roof, on the colour palette.
In keeping with its heritage, Bayside Blue is a single-colour choice without a two-tone option and will only be offered on Z Coupe.
Ivory Pearl and Plasma Red are offered across both Z and Z Nismo.
The additions bring the total colour choices across both models to eight, joining Black Diamond Metallic, Gun Metallic, Rosewood Metallic, and Brilliant Silver with Super Black Roof across the Z, while the Z Nismo is offered in Black Diamond Metallic, Brilliant Silver with Super Black Roof, and the Nismo-exclusive Slate Grey with Super Black Roof.
“The new Z is an icon reborn, and it is only fitting that it now shares Bayside Blue with another Nissan legend, the R34 GT-R,” said Nissan Australia deputy director of product and retail campaigns Warwick Daly.
“Our performance heritage is a part of our DNA, and it’s so exciting to have this iconic colour live on as part of a new suite of hues available on the 2025 Nissan Z.”
The MY25 Nissan Z is available from $76,160 plus on-road costs (unchanged) while the Z Nismo is priced from $94,605 + ORC (+$245).
