Volkswagen updates Polo, T-Roc ranges

Higher standard safety and convenience technologies for Volkswagen Polo, T-Roc

6 Feb 2025

VOLKSWAGEN Australia has announced important running changes to its Polo and T-Roc model lines, the upgrades centred around increased standard safety and convenience technologies and now available to order.

Further, the German importer has revealed it has supplies of existing MY24 plated T-Roc variants in stock, the entry-grade T-Roc City Life available from $37,990 drive-away until March 31.

In the most recent changes to Polo, we find the entry-grade Life now offered with standard adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and Travel Assist, the latter combining the former duo for semi-autonomous highway driving.

Importantly, Volkswagen claims Travel Assist can help prevent collisions, lane wander, or deviation from the road, and reduce driver fatigue on longer journeys.

Other upgrades for the Polo range see the mid-tier Style now offered with standard keyless entry and ignition, native satellite navigation, wireless App-Connect, and wireless smartphone charging.

These features join existing highlights including IQ.Light matrix LED headlights with adaptive high beam and more from $34,790 (see full pricing table below).

Volkswagen Australia has also announced upgrades to its T-Roc CityLife entry variant, the Small segment SUV now equipped with side assist, rear traffic alert, and proactive occupant protection system as standard.

The features combine blind-spot monitoring via mirror mounted illumination warning, an audible alert following the detection of vehicles or objects behind the T-Roc when reversing and, in the event of an imminent collision, the tightening of front seatbelts and other preparations and activations to help protect occupants.

Elsewhere, the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line is upgraded by the inclusion of a new sports leather-wrapped steering wheel with physical audio, trip computer and adaptive cruise control buttons.

All new Volkswagen T-Roc customers can also now access the GoConnect smartphone app, with five-year access to several functions including live technical status, vehicle location, recent trips, warning light and error notification, plus direct dealer communication.

The upgraded Volkswagen Polo and T-Roc are available to order now, with deliveries commencing during Q1 2025.

Looking back at the sales performance of the Polo and T-Roc over the preceding 12 months we note mixed performance between the pair.

The Polo performed admirably within the Light passenger car over $30K segment, achieving pole position with 2154 unit sales and a 44.2 per cent segment share.

Sales of the Polo across the 2024 calendar year topped the previous 12 months by 132.1 per cent, convincingly leading those of the Mini Cooper (1559), Hyundai i20 (445), Skoda Fabia (331), Audi A1 (176), and now defunct Citroen C3 (24).

However, sales performance for the Volkswagen T-Roc was less impressive.

The T-Roc placed an equal ninth position at the end of the 2024 calendar year, tying with the Kia Seltos on 7777 unit sales.

SUV Small under $45,000 segment winners included the MG ZS (22,629), Hyundai Kona (17,374), GWM Haval Jolion (14,238), Mazda CX-30 (12,672), Mitsubishi ASX (12,330), Subaru Crosstrek (11,545), Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (9221), and Toyota Corolla Cross (8902).

Rounding out the bustling segment we find the Nissan Qashqai (6560), Chery Omoda 5 (6162), Honda HR-V (3350), Suzuki Vitara (2934), Toyota C-HR (2828), Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (1918), Skoda Kamiq (1284), Suzuki S-Cross (706), Jeep Compass (493), Renault Arkana (431), Peugeot 2008 (346), and now obsolete Mazda MX-30 (112) and Citroen C4 (30).
