News - FordFord’s fortunes flex with 30-year sales highBlue Ovals’ blue-collar success continues - record Ranger, Transit Custom, F-150 sales4 Mar 2025 By MATT BROGAN FORD AUSTRALIA is moving from strength to strength in the local market, particularly where its light commercial vehicle sales are concerned.
Across the 2024 calendar year, the Blue Oval set records across several commercial vehicle model lines – including Ranger, Transit, and F-150 – while securing strong positions in both the sports car segment with its Mustang, and in the Large SUV segment with its Everest family hauler.
Speaking at the launch of the Everest Tremor in Melbourne this week, Ford Australia marketing director Ambrose Henderson took time to share the details of the importer’s success, thanking Ford’s hard-working dealer network and loyal Aussie customers in the process.
“Last year, we had an incredible year … we set some amazing records. We sold more than 100,000 cars and we were second in the market – it’s the first time we’ve been second in the market for almost three decades,” he said.
“On top of that, Ranger went back-to-back being number-one in the market … and Mustang was Australia’s favourite sports car being number-one in its segment.
“The F-150 started to gain momentum, and it has already hit number two (in its segment), and we’re very excited about our Transit range … Transit Custom had its highest sales year ever last year and is now number-two in its segment.”
Mr Ambrose said the Everest had grown sales within the Large SUV segment to “amazing” levels, setting “an all-time record for volume in its segment”.
“Everest is an absolute stand-out success for us. Last year we grew sales by 76 per cent year-on-year … and we are very proud with how the vehicle is resonating with our Australian customers,” he continued.
“Customers are voting with their feet and have helped us deliver some amazing results. Overall, the Everest was the sixth highest-selling car last year … it set an all-time record for volume in its segment.”
Mr Ambrose said the Everest’s place in the market gave it an advantage many in the segment couldn’t match, stressing the importance of a range that offered a model for every usage case.
“We have an Everest for everybody,” he enthused. “It’s really the only nameplate in the segment that spans the whole range ... and today in introducing the Tremor – which will become a permanent part of the range – we have a vehicle that delivers all-out four-wheel drive performance.”
Placed between the best-selling Everest Sport and top-selling Platinum, Mr Ambrose said the 2025 Ford Everest Tremor is set to offer a strong feature set and exceptional off-road ability to Australian SUV buyers.
Priced from $76,590 plus on-road costs, it will take the fight directly to ute-based rivals including the expensive Toyota LandCruiser Prado Altitude (from $92,700) and related Lexus GX 550 Overtrail (from $116,000), Isuzu MU-X Tour Mate (from $73,990), and now-defunct Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GSR from $64,890).
